The Healing Touch
Physical healing seems to be a big topic, and your questions reflect that fact. One of my first interests in the metaphysical was in the field of physical healing. I have traveled the world in search of answers as to how and why healings occur. My travels have taken me to the Philippines to live and work with the psychic healers and to the Kathryn Kuhlman healing services where I was honored to actually ‘work the floor’ as the healings occurred. My study has placed me in close contact with many well-known healers.
I have witnessed the miracles and will not fill this space with testimonials. Physical healing is a fact. It can happen in a moment, and when it does, we can call it a healing while most doctors will call it a spontaneous remission. Or, it can happen over time and we may consider it natural.
Natural may be the key word here. I believe that the natural state of the physical body is whole and healthy. There are many reasons that this natural state does manifest, and in these reasons is the key to healing.
The physical body is a reflection of the mind. Without the mind, the body does not exist. Everything about our physical makeup is a reflection of our thoughts, attitudes and the focus of our attention. A person that has developed the ability to see or ‘read’ the energy around our body can actually ‘read’ this energy. Pending physical problems manifest in the energy around us long before they appear in the body.
The root or cause of a physical problem lies in the energy around us, too. When studying with the Philippine healers, it was stressed time and again that a physical healing would not last if the root of the problem were not addressed. When Philippine natives were healed, they were very interested in the root problem and were more than willing to follow a ‘spiritual prescription’ presented by a healer. American and European visitors, on the other hand, were not interested and were most unwilling to recognize and address this advice. They were interested only in the physical healing. And it is true that in many cases, the physical healing did not last for them.
One of the most often asked questions asks why God allows someone to become ill or why God allows suffering at all. This is not an easy question to answer. God has given us absolute dominion over our reality. God will not intervene. We have all the creative power necessary to make our world perfect. Our body is designed to heal itself. A doctor can cut us open and take something out, but the body must heal itself. When we remember that the physical body is a reflection of the mind, it is easy to see why healing does not always work. A connection, somewhere in mind has to be made before the body will heal. I can say with certainty; the mind has absolute influence over the physical body.
Some of the issues that cause physical problems arrive with us from past experiences, some have been accepted as part of the consensus experience, and some of them develop around our own beliefs and expectations. But they are all under the direct influence of mind.
Self-healing begins with understanding this and taking charge of our attention. In order to create the atmosphere in which mind and body can work together for a common goal, that goal must be clear in our attention. We may believe that the path to healing is through medical help, Chiropractic treatment, Homeopathic remedies or anything we believe can assist the body and mind connection. Our belief and expectations are paramount in the choice. Some believe that a more Spiritual path should be followed. In fact, all of those just mentioned are Spiritual paths. There is no path that is not Spiritual.
Our expectations and focus of attention must remain on the healed condition and the healing process. We often tell others what is ‘wrong’ in great detail. In doing so, we must form images of our ailment in our mind. When we talk about our illness in the present tense, discuss negative aspect of our condition that may occur or remain depressed about our challenge, we are establishing a degrading mental attitude that the body will naturally follow. It is much more beneficial to speak and act as if the healing has already happened or at least is well underway. Remember that the body is designed to heal itself. Keeping this thought in our awareness is important, as doing so enhances the healing process.
A number of persons gathered together with a common goal have a tremendous effect on the body’s natural healing process. This is a well-known fact in medical circles, but few physicians take advantage of it. An interesting fact is that ‘support groups’, as they are called, often cross religious barriers. The most productive groups focus on the belief that it is the body mind connections that causes healing to occur rather than calling on an outside source dependant on worthiness. These groups have driven serious illnesses into remission and complete healings of incurable diseases have often taken place. They also cut the healing process by an average of two thirds, bringing the body back to complete health in a very short time.
The healers of the Philippines produce healings immediate involving instant transformation of the physical. They work with disincarnate doctors and nurses from the second and third transpersonal realms and are able to manipulate the physical. These manipulations are lasting only when the root of the problem is discovered and addressed. The root, without exception, is our thoughts and attitudes about others and our self. It has nothing at all to do with how we make a living, what religion we practice or if we practice a religion at all, or whether we smoke or take a drink now and then. The driving force is attitude, and this attitude must contain Love and Joy in order for the body to heal and remain healthy. The purpose of our time here in the physical is to share the Love and Joy of the experience.
Many asked why God would allow us to suffer or if God wants us healed. Taken from a Christian perspective, God has allowed us this place of experience, given us Godlike qualities with all the power and ability necessary to make our experience fit our desires, and told us to go forth and have dominion. God has never recanted that gift. God has said that if we do certain things or have certain attitudes, this or that will happen. But the original directive is still in place and God is right here with us, and in us. Asking God to make an exception just for us is like an adult asking his mother or father to feed him like he was a baby.
God is Love; we are Love. All is Love. When we make that connection, healing is a natural and normal occurrence.
Create a healing atmosphere:
Laugh, the joy of laughter is therapeutic.
Place yourself in the company of joyous people.
Thank The One for the healing power of your body.
Surround yourself with people that believe in this process. Have them touch you with joy. You do not need folks telling you how sorry they are for you. You do not need to describe your condition in detail to anyone but your doctor or healer.
Create a mind movie of the process of healing. It is not necessary to understand what the process actually is. You can imagine it as dump trucks hauling away the ‘bad’ while other equipment repairs the damage. Use what works for you, and take time daily to imagine this process.
Accept the gift of physical existence with Love and Joy, and Walk in Peace.
