Dancing on The Ball of Life

Getting ‘On the Ball’

It seems at times that we have two opposing forces operating in our lives. On one hand, we are taught that all that is, is of The One and everything in our reality is in an intrinsic state of Balance. We are asked to believe that all the good and bad we see and experience in the world is just a part of this movie of reality, that everyone will someday ‘evolve’ into an awareness of the unlimited, creative spirit entity that we all are.

On the other side of the coin are the apparent, sometimes very real atrocities taking place around us. And from a scientific perspective, our earth is being destroyed by our very presence here.

If, as the Masters say, Balance Is, how and where do we realize it in our lives? Do we sequester ourselves against all the ‘negative’ in the world and live in relative peace, or do we become involved in our reality and make an effort to correct the apparent ‘wrong’ we perceive? What is the true meaning of being ‘in the world but not of it?’

From a holographic perspective, there is only one Mind. This is The One, and in truth, we are in and of The One. But while we are here in this reality, we seem to be thinking or perceiving with two separate minds. For our purpose here, we will call them mind and Mind.

In order to interact with out reality and to take an active part in it, we think and perceive with mind. While utilizing mind, we are limiting ourselves to our paradigm and our learned valued of good and bad, right and wrong. Along with our paradigm and the activities of mind, we experience the emotional feelings of good and bad, right and wrong. These feelings run the gamut from what we call negative feelings of dislike, repulsion and even hate on one end to what we call positive feelings of acceptance, pleasure and love on the other.

When we sit or meditate, we often experience the presence of Mind. During those times, our feelings of right and wrong seem to fall away and we experience the total Love and acceptance of The One. We return with a feeling of peace that we wish would last and last. But that feeling or awareness of the Love and peace of The One diminishes as we return once again to our interaction with the movie of reality.

What is happening here? In order to understand, gain Balance and learn to dance, we must first understand some basic facts concerning the structure and nature of our ongoing reality. We are not speaking of the physical world and out flesh and blood existence, but our interaction with and relationship to it. We are talking about the reality we perceive and experience.

First of all, reality is experience based. Every physical experience, from the perinatal experience when we enter physical reality to transition when we leave, we are gathering information from the five physical senses, organizing this information in mind and developing a paradigm. This paradigm gives us the impression that things in our reality should look and work a specific way. And although our paradigm may be similar to the paradigms of those close to us, each and every paradigm is individual in nature. We are all slightly different in our beliefs and expectations as well as our emotional feelings. And as we know, some are very different.

Secondly, the mind is directly responsible for our emotions. Our emotional feelings of love and hate, good and bad are generated by our paradigm. And although there are some basic, built in tendencies, some of which are gender related, we do develop emotional reactions to our reality based on the experiences we have as we grow and develop in it. Again, we are all different. Some are slightly different, others are very different, and some may even be beyond our comprehension.

Now, most of us here now have gone through a number of experienced based realities prior to this one, so we do arrive with built in tendencies. These tendencies impel us to choose an experience that is in some way consistent with previous experiences. So our ongoing reality this time is in some way connected to past experiences. But we do have an opportunity with each and every reality to develop anew. As always, we have the freedom of choice that is intrinsic in all creative Spirit.

In experience based reality, all our emotional feelings are subjective. Our strongest feeling of good is based on experience. Our deepest sense of bad is based on experience. And we are all a little, sometimes a lot different in our feelings.

Finally, in order to have an experience based reality; we must be able to perceive and believe the illusion of duality. Without the illusion of duality, there is no comparison between good and bad or right and wrong and therefor, no emotions of like or dislike, love or hate.

So the essence of our reality is the result of ongoing experience. This experience produces emotional feelings that result in a sense of our place in the physical world. In order to have a sense of place; we must be able to compare our beliefs, expectations and emotions to the beliefs, expectations and emotions of others. The result is not the physical world we live in but rather, out reaction to it. This is our ongoing reality.

Now we must look at some basic facts that exist in Spirit. Beginning from a scientific perspective, we can safely say that the foundation of all physical reality is energy. And we know, again from a scientific perspective that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Energy can, however, change state. Energy has the potential to ‘become’ anything in our physical reality. Without discussing where energy ‘came from,’ lets just assume that energy has always been and that from this energy came the physical world. There are a number of scientific explanations for the process of physical ‘becoming,’ but they are all based on the assumption that energy always existed.

From a Spiritual perspective we can say that Mind is the foundation of all experience or awareness. And we know, again from a Spiritual perspective that Mind always existed. So we can safely say that Mind can neither be created nor destroyed. Mind can, however, change state. Mind has the potential to ‘become’ any awareness in any reality. Without discussing where Mind ‘came from,’ lets just assume that Mind has always been and that from Mind comes awareness and experience. There are a number of religious explanations for the process of Mind ‘becoming,’ but they are all based on the assumption that Mind always existed.

We may have a ‘favorite name’ for Mind. We may call it Universal Mind, Cosmic Consciousness, Divine Spirit, Allah or God. It would be safe to say that the name we are comfortable with is directly related to our past experience.

And we may have a favorite Teacher that helped us get comfortable with that favorite name. We may call our teacher Buddha, Mohammed or Jesus. It would be safe to say that the Teacher we are comfortable with is directly related to our past experience.

All of the authentic Masters or Teachers have a few things in common. One commonality is that they have all stated, in one way or another that Spirit or God is Love, God is Light and that God is eternal. It is not surprising to me to learn that light is the highest vibration of physical energy known in our physical reality. Nor is it surprising to learn that a basic assumption among scientists is that energy is eternal. It is quite possible that the scientists and the philosophers have been describing the same ‘source’ from a different perspective.

Another commonality among authentic Masters is the teaching that Spirit is the source of all creation. Now, that is easy for us to accept if we look only at the physical portion of our reality. But it becomes a bit more difficult when we accept the fact that it includes every experience, including all of our individual assumptions of good and bad, right and wrong. Well………………

‘Religious’ teachers have adapted the teachings of the Masters to fit their individual experiences and passed these teachings along to us, where they fit, in our experiences.

My experience is that if I am not defending my life or the life and well being of another, I should not take the life of another. If I do take the life of another in self defense, it results in no reward. I have a feeling that this is ‘right.’ It fits my paradigm.

But if I were writing this from another paradigm, I would say that if I were killed in battle against another for the simple reason that they have not accepted my god as their god, I will be rewarded with a seat in heaven next to the master. I would be justified to seek out such a battle and willingly fight to the death. And, I would have a feeling that this is ‘right.’ It fits my paradigm.

Or from another perspective, I would believe that I should not take the life of another under any conditions. I would believe that it is better to willingly die at the hands of another than to take the life of another. For me, this would ‘feel’ right. It would fit my paradigm.

We are looking at the same ‘source’ in Spirit through a different paradigm. The result is a different set of beliefs and expectations and an entirely different emotional response to very similar scenes in this movie of reality. The result is a different set of value judgments resulting from individual experience for each and every one of us.

The Masters teach that in Spirit there is no judgment. God is Love. God is All. The Love of God is unconditional and accepts all reality, totally.

The essence of Spirit is unconditional Love and total acceptance of all. Spirit is the source. In Mind, I am one with Spirit.

The essence of Spirit is unconditional Love. What does this Love feel like? It ‘feels’ like nothing in this physical world. Our strongest, greatest feeling of emotional love cannot compare to the Love of Spirit. In Mind, my Love is Spirit.

The greatest challenge we face in getting on the Ball of Life is to resolve this conflict between emotional love and Spirit Love. Spirit Love is without judgment. I can say that my strongest feeling of what is right at this moment is consistent with my belief in Spirit, but in doing so, I must accept the fact that Spirit fully and unconditionally accepts, in Love, the exact opposite of what my feelings are telling me. In this reality, Spirit Love is not without emotion, but Spirit Love is free from the judgment of emotion. The awareness of Spirit Love is in Mind.

We can touch Mind and the Love of Spirit during meditation, worship and fellowship. We must learn to bring the Love of Spirit into every scene, including the emotional scenes in our ongoing movie of reality. The Love of Spirit embraces all. We must learn to embrace all with the unconditional Love of Spirit. We can learn to do this by accepting:

Our perception of reality is experience based, but Spirit is the source of all reality.

Our emotional reactions to reality are created and justified by our paradigm, but Love of Spirit is without exception.

Reality has a beginning and an end. We are Spirit. We are forever. You are Spirit. You are forever.

In all my reality, I understand that my emotional feelings are subjective and my attention remains on Spirit Love. Our differences in belief and expectation do not matter to Spirit, therefore, they do not matter to Mind.

God is Light. God is Love. I am Light. I am Love.

Spirit Light contains no duality. Spirit Light embraces all. Darkness is not an energy unto itself. Darkness is the absence of Light.

The judgment of experience based reality contains judgment and therefore, a form of darkness due to the absence of the full Light of Spirit.

Turn on the Light.

In doing so, we get On the Ball of Life. We live in Love and without judgment. Great place to be, but the ball is moving. Unless we sequester ourselves against this movie of reality, we will surly be tossed from the awareness of Balance. Should we hang in there and ‘do nothing’?

No! Movement is a fact of Spirit. But, let’s practice holding every thing and everyone in total Love and acceptance for a while and then learns to take little steps.

Walk in Peace
